I made another!
My stripey Miranda Tshirt has been a staple go-to item this summer so I thought it only right to make myself another.
This time I used this lush chevron t-shirt fabric that I bought from B&M in Leeds on a lovely girly shopping trip with my sewing friend Charlotte in Spring. It was £5 p/m, I had no idea what I was going to make but knew I needed some in my stash!
I didn't really make any alterations to the pattern from last time. I took some in at the side seams again, but played it by ear as to how much as my fabric was stretchier than my stripy fabric. I wanted to make sure the chevrons still matched up nicely on the sides though, and think I did a pretty good job.
I used a strip of my striped fabric for the neck band as I wanted a plain black strip for definition. I should have maybe cut the strip slightly longer as my chevron fabric has quite a bit more stretch than the stripes.
I used Tilly and the Buttons STRETCH book for some good guidelines on making sure your overlocker tensions are all correct for sewing knits. The stitching on the hem of my last Miranda was a little bit tight so wanted to avoid making the same mistake again... It seemed to work, I can stretch it over my head without the fear of any stitching popping! My top tip would be to test out the overlocker when the fabric is single and double, as I needed to slightly alter the settings for overlocking a single edge before hemming.
My T-shirt is cute! The fabric is a little stretchier in all directions than I planned it to be so I have to be careful it doesn't lose it's shape. I love the chevrons though, worth the effort matching those side seams!
